[Shanghai] Key to Success in China Booming's E-commerce @ DCCC

Posted in News & Events on June 21st 2018

During the past decade, the global retail market has witnessed an unprecedented growth in the e-commerce sector. In 2017 alone, the global online retail market amounted to $2.3 trillion, and China's market alone totaled $1.15 trillion -- that’s a 32% increase in the online sales between 2016 and 2017. This positive prospect in the online retail industry is the result of a massive shift in consumer habits of shopping online. Today, one of the keys to success in doing business in China is to understand and employ the e-commerce tools available in the Chinese online retail platforms.

Being a country that is experiencing a phenomenal digital revolution, China has seen tremendous growth in its e-commerce market. Today, China is the largest and most innovative player in the global online retail landscape due to its mobile-driven population and its advanced digital payment infrastructure. However, competing in this large market is not easy, especially for foreign brands entering China.

After our successful discussion on China’s e-commerce landscape at AmCham on May 3, ITC was invited again to share their strategies, data, and recommendations on achieving success in China’s e-commerce market. This time, ITC had the honor to speak in front of the Danish Chamber of Commerce in China (DCCC) about the current Chinese e-commerce landscape.

The presentation took place on June 19, 2018, and was hosted by three key ITC members - Florian, Hugo, and Nisha. In the presentation, they shared in details the latest e-commerce trends that are driving growth in the market while showcasing strategies and tactics used by successful brands to help them compete and win in China’s challenging market. Their presentation offered solutions to differentiate oneself from the thousands of players currently swimming in China’s vast e-commerce market.

The event took place at WeWork Shanghai with more than 30 attendees

The attendees were business owners, e-commerce managers, digital marketing managers, etc. interested in knowing more strategies to add to their marketing mix
