As the biggest e-commerce market in the world, China is an attractive destination for almost all brands. However, it is not easy for brands to start and thrive in such a fast-evolving and disruptive environment. Determining the best practices to e-commerce success in China is essential to online players. Following the success of last year’s Digital Design Training, ITC was invited by AmCham Shanghai to discuss these very topics, presenting to its members the latest trends and tactics in the E-commerce landscape in China.
On May 3rd three of our key members, Thomas Guillemaud, Nisha Rao and Hugo Arrufat gave a presentation titled “E-commerce in China – Sales Success Secrets from Businesses Big to Small”. Our speakers started by discussing the latest e-commerce trends in China such as the mobile-first society, social commerce, O2O, cross-border e-commerce, artificial intelligence and even blockchain technology. They then covered strategies and tactics on how to engage with Chinese customers, including WeChat store, OMS, data integration, as well as leveraging viral contents, KOLs, and gamification.
During the over 40 minutes Q&A session many questions were asked, with a strong interest in topics such as the storage of data in China, personalized marketing, and cross-border e-commerce, which are also the main concern of many brands in China these days.
Ryan Purkey, Vice Chair of Marketing Committee at AmCham Shanghai shared his feedback on the presentation:
It was my pleasure hosting and MCing for IT Consultis’ Thomas, Hugo and Nisha as they presented on E-commerce in China. Their knowledge on the topic is excellent, current, and everyone there could have spent hours on a Q&A session alone. After the event, I was asked, ‘Are AmCham Marketing events always this good?’ Of course when you have a great team like this. Thanks again!
Truly thankful to AmCham for giving us an opportunity to share our thoughts on this interesting topic, we look forward to the next collaboration!
